We include for you, at no extra charge: linens, blanket (two in winter) sleeping bags, water (with sink), fridge, stove, solar charging hub, lighting, cookware, cutlery, tea, coffee, coffee maker, kettle, outdoor shower, fans, propane heater (November – March only), and a whole lot more! We aim to provide everything you could possibly need except for your hiking boots, camera, toothbrush, and specialty equipment for activities!

You are responsible for the vehicle, the RV build, and its belongings during the entire time it is in your possession.

Therefore, you must have RV-specific insurance. 99% of private insurances don’t cover RVs and commercial vehicles. For this reason, we require RV rental insurance which is offered at checkout.

If you book directly from our website, you can call your personal insurance and confirm that they will cover an RV rental, you can send us your policy documents confirming this. Otherwise, we do require that you utilize one of our insurance packages for your trip.

If you book with outdoorsy or any third party platform, their insurance packages are compulsory and there is no way around using the insurance they offer.

You can see a full breakdown of the insurance packages here: https://www.outdoorsy.com/help/outdoorsys-protection-packages

Here is a summary of each package:

Liability Coverage: State Minimum

I totally get that the insurance packages can add a lot to the final price. However, your personal insurance and/or the credit card you book with, in 99% of cases, will not cover an RV rental.

If you book directly from our website, you can call your personal insurance and confirm that they will cover an RV rental. If they confirm, you can send us your policy documents which we will attach to your reservation. Otherwise, we do require that you utilize one of our insurance packages for your trip.

If you book with Outdoorsy or any other third party platform, their insurance packages are compulsory and there is no way around using the insurance they offer.

Every person driving the vehicle must be verified and insured. If you book directly with us, we will send you a link to get verified. It’s simple: just upload your drivers license.

If you booked on a third party site like Outdoorsy, follow Outdoorsy’s instructions in your Outdoorsy app or website. Once Outdoorsy approves you, it will show on our end. We have no control or influence over their process, so please follow their instructions: https://www.outdoorsy.com/help/how-to-become-a-verified-driver

Usually, it’s because your birthdate is not included and all questions weren’t answered. If you book directly with us, we can add this; send us an email. If you booked on a third party site, reach out to to booking platform you booked with. It’s their decision. You must be verified in order to take a vehicle.

Roadside assistance is not through AAA, but functions like AAA for your trip. You will get a phone number for 24/7 support if something happens during your trip.

Unfortunately, you need to be 25 or older at the time of the rental. It’s federal law and not up to me, unfortunately.

All of the vans are exactly the same, barring color, curtains, mileage, and year. It’s up to your preference!

Nope. It’s all your preference of color and curtains. That’s the only difference.

To be honest, I’m unfortunately pretty strict about my ‘no off-pavement’ policy because I’ve had some really terrible experiences with past renters causing thousands of dollars in damages to my vans. You can drive 1/4 mile each way to and from a campground at under 10mph. Any more than this will result in the loss of your security deposit.  The vans are tracked by GPS and motion detectors that alert us when they sense the bumps… so we will know. We really don’t want to have to charge you, but the damage that’s inevitably caused makes this a requisite.

We suggest using google maps in ‘satellite’ view to check your campgrounds. You can zoom in and see if a road is paved or not. If in doubt, send us an email with the name of the campground and ideally, a link to the spot on google maps. We can check it out. Thanks for understanding!

I’m sorry, but no pets are allowed. Bringing pets will result in the full loss of your security deposit.

Please check this FAQ for answers to every question we’ve ever been asked. For anything not listed here, please send us a message and we will be happy to answer you… and add your question to the FAQ.

I’ve personally stayed in them for 3+ weeks while kiteboarding and climbing (brining lots of gear!), with travel partners, and there are even some people who live in these ‘Cascade Campers’ designs.

So, is it doable? Yes absolutely. Especially if you’re an experienced camper and/or don’t mind a small living space.

When some renters have taken longer trips with our vans, they’ve booked hotels about once per week (or so) just to have some creature comforts. I think that’s wise; I will be the first to admit that I’ve also done that without shame! 🙂

However, if you pack light, get your systems down pat to stay organized, and don’t mind being physically close with your travel partner, then in the long-term, these vans are a great way to enjoy the many parks we’ve got here in the west coast USA.

There are some things that make a longer trip more comfortable, like scheduling laundromats, not driving too far every day so you can keep your camp set up, and making a point to find pools / showers / swimming options to stay clean. Those last few tips will go for any vehicle you book, however.

A larger RV will certainly give you more space, but won’t be nearly as nimble or mobile as our camper van option.

Ultimately, yes it’s possible, and it comes down to preference.

Your mileage is a cumulative total across your entire trip. EG: 150 x the number of DAYSyou rent :-). Another EG: if you rent for 4 nights, you get 5 days x 150 = 750 aggregate miles included. Everything beyond that is $.45c / mile.

Pickup / Returns

Regular pickup time is 3pm or later. $50 gets you 4 additional hours (if available), so earliest possible would be 11am. Anything earlier requires the previous night’s rental. For this, please choose the ‘early pickup’ option at checkout.

Drop off time is 11am or earlier. $50 gets you 4 additional hours (if available), so latest possible would become 3pm. Anything  later requires the next night’s rental. For this, please choose the ‘late drop off’ option at checkout.

We have a contactless pickup system, so you are welcome to pick up and drop off anytime you like. You’ll get the keys from a lockbox affixed to your camper van. The vans are parked in a storage facility that is open from 7am to 9pm. If you’re going to arrive outside of those hours, please just let us know and we will park the van out front for you. If you would like to return outside of those hours, simply park out front and we will check you out the following day. Easy peasy!

Please go to www.vegascampers.com/training. Set aside 1 hour to watch the training videos in their entirety and pass the short quiz before you depart. Doing so is required before you can get the code to the key lockbox.

From the time you touch down, you should plan on 60-90 minutes to arrive at the van. That’s a rough estimate of time to de-plane, walk through the terminal, get your checked bags, walk to the rideshare location, and time in rideshare (and assuming no delays). So, if you land at 2pm, you would be at the pickup location between 3:00pm-3:30pm.

From the airport, it’s a super quick and easy 10-12 minute Uber/Lyft/Taxi to the pickup location.

No, I don’t. It’s a super quick and easy 12 minute Uber/Lyft/Taxi to the pickup location.

There will be a lock box attached to the roof rack. Keys will be inside! You’ll be given the code after passing the very short quiz and signing the rental documents.

We don’t have availability for parking at the facility. The simplest way to park a vehicle is to use a neighboring parking lot at a nearby shopping center and then walk over. However, if you want covered parking, park at a casino and then rideshare or taxi to the facility. Alternatively, if your vehicle needs service, you could schedule the maintenance while you’re on your trip and the shop will take your vehicle in at night.

We will send a checklist for checkout the day before you return.

Please put all towels, blankets, sheets, and sleeping bag in the blue duffel and lock it in the roof box. Put your towels in the respective shower bag and also lock it into the roof box. Additionally, please follow all instructions at vegascampers.com/checkout

Tank totally full, yes! Just as you received it, please. If you return the van with more than 1 gallon empty from the tank, you will incur a $25 refilling charge plus the cost of fuel refill. I don’t want to charge you; simply fill the tank completely within 5 miles of the return location and this won’t happen. There is a gas station right next to the pickup station with pretty good prices. We recommend filling up there.

Please lock the van, put the keys in the lockbox, attach the lockbox to the rear driver’s side roof rack, then scramble the code. Please face the lockbox inward so that it’s as hidden as possible. Please follow all instructions at https://vegascampers.com/checkout

You don’t need to take the van to a car wash unless something has caused it to become ‘excessively’ dirty. Examples would include lots of street tar stuck to the exterior, gobs of dirt in the carpet, piles of trash on the inside, mud in the doorjambs, etc. Returning the van in cases like those, an ‘excess cleaning fee’ of $100 will apply. Our cleaning crew works really hard, but if something takes them a special effort, they need to be compensated for their time, supplies, and effort. Follow the steps at https://vegascampers.com/checkout and you will more than likely be totally fine! When in doubt, give it a wash.

Camper Features

With the storage rack on top, it’s 8 feet tall. Therefore, please don’t enter any garage or fast food area that doesn’t have at least a 9 foot clearance. Note that the passenger pickup area at the airport doesn’t accommodate the vans! If you’re picking someone up, pick them up at the ARRIVALS area, which is plenty tall.

The bed is 6’3” long and 47” wide. It’s perfect for two! Let me know when you’d like to book.

Yes! You will get a sleeping bag that can be converted into singles or a double bag. You’ll also get 2 pillows, pillowcases, sheets, blanket  and 2 towels. From Nov 1 – March 31, we provide two blankets and a propane heater.

We provide blanket and sleeping bags. If those aren’t enough, simply turn on the vehicle and run the car’s heater. Consider driving to lower elevations for warmer temperatures. Some renters like to bring their own electric 12v blanket (with a cigarette lighter adapter, NOT a standard plug). You can plug that into the electrical system’s 12v plug.

From November 1 – March 31, we provide a second blanket, portable propane heater ,and two propane fuel canisters. You will need to buy additional canisters if you wish to use more than that. Note that you should ALWAYS ventilate the van with the roof fans, not sleep with it on, be very mindful of the flame and hot surface of the heater.

We provide a portable fan and a ceiling fan is built into the roof of the van. If those aren’t enough, simply turn on the vehicle and run the car’s a/c. Consider driving to higher altitude or closer to water for natural cooling!

The van doesn’t have shore plugins, it runs on a 100w solar panel that charges the RV battery. When you drive, the vehicle’s alternator also charges the RV battery. So, yes, the van is designed to work without being plugged into external power.

A reminder, if you are dry camping, that dirt road travel is prohibited and will result in the loss of your security deposit.

You will start your trip with 5 gallons of purified drinking water. Please also return it full. To find purified water, please search ‘water’ in google maps and go to any Watermill Express or Glacier water dispenser. The back of most Walmarts also have filling stations. It costs $1.25-$2.00 to get 5 gallons of purified water. It’s totally up to you how much water you will use.

Unfortunately not.

Unfortunately, we don’t allow bikes inside the van and we don’t have bike racks, nor is there a place to mount a bike rack.

Unfortunately, we don’t allow towing of any kind.

There is indeed an outdoor shower. It’s usb rechargeable powered and you can hang it anywhere you want 🙂

One must be comfortable wearing a swimsuit, finding a private place to park, or be comfortable with having someone else hold up a towel to cover one’s privvies.

I recommend you download your choice of Google Maps or  Maps.me and download the areas you will be driving through. The parks have surprisingly decent service, but GPS is not built into the vans.

Yes. You get 2 camp chairs.

Yes, two towels and two hand towels are provided.

You can put them in the roof rack. PLEASE do not bring skis or boots into the van as they scratch the floors.

Our vans are compact and don’t have space for a toilet… and to be frank, we don’t want to deal with the cleanup and sanitization this would entail. For you, this means there are no tanks to empty and drain during your trip (it’s really not a fun job)! There are ample facilities at campsites and travel centers along the road. It’s also easy to stop in at gas stations and fast food restaurants for a quick bathroom stop. For showering, we do include a portable shower for outdoor use and many campgrounds and truck stops have clean, inexpensive shower facilities.

Unfortunately not. They’re cheap at Walmart, though, and REI is nearby with awesome tents 🙂. Another great local option is to rent a tent and more equipment from Basecamp Outdoor Gear. We’ve partnered with them, so if you check out with promo code VGSCMPR10, you’ll get a 10% discount!

Each van has 8-10 USB plugs. There is also an inverter with 2 regular sized power plugs.

The fridge will run on battery power the whole time. It doesn’t use propane. Solar and your driving recharges the battery, no problem.

There are two separate batteries. The RV electronics don’t operate on the car’s battery, so no, you won’t run the second battery out by running fans or electronics in the evening. Please conserve electricity however as it’s not an endless supply and you could discharge the RV battery.

You will get a pot, pan, silverware, cooking utensils, bottle/wine opener, Aeropress coffee maker, salad bowl, plates, bowls, cups, and coffee cups.

You will get salt and pepper, hot sauce, olive oil, instant coffee, and tea bags.

The fridge is electric.

There is a very small table but picnic tables are better. 🙂

Only unleaded gas, 87 grade or higher. Absolutely NO diesel.

Your van has a 100 watt solar panel that charges a battery that is separate from the car’s battery. There are 10 USB ports and 2 120volt sockets (regular USA wall plugs) throughout the van. The 400 watt inverter is plenty to charge a laptop and camera, but running a hair dryer or electric chainsaw is too much. Please don’t try either of those.

There is a little snowflake icon button that needs to be pressed in and glowing for the a/c to blow cold. Press that button and it’ll blow cold.

No. We change the oil/filter and rotate tires more than the recommended intervals.

The oil change timer in the van’s computer isn’t sync’d with the actual oil changes, thus, not accurate.

You can eliminate the message by following these steps:

STEP 1

Close all doors, gear set to park position.

STEP 2

Turn the ignition on. Don’t start the engine.

STEP 3

Fully press and release the gas pedal 3X within 10 seconds.

STEP 4

Turn off the ignition. If fail repeat the procedure.

You get two new butane canisters, plus whatever is left in the stove’s current canister. If you are efficient and boil low levels of water in the kettle, one canister will last a week. If you cook 2/3 meals a day, a canister could only last a day or two. When I’m out camping, I just boil a kettle for coffee in the morning and then moderate use in evening for dinner and one canister lasts me 3-5 days. Additional butane canisters are available at most camping stores and Walmarts.

Mr. Buddy is an indoor safe heater, but carbon dioxide build up can be a real issue in such a small space. For your life’s safety, please DO ventilate using the roof fan and/or the windows. Don’t not sleep with it running inside the van! While the heater has an auto-off feature if it detects too low of oxygen levels and the van has a carbon monoxide/smoke detector, it is not worth the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning and/or burning down the van. Please use the blankets and sleeping bags we provide and if it’s absolutely freezing still, run the heater while awake and then go to sleep after turning it off.

The shell is a Ram Promaster City. The interior build is designed and built by Cascade Campers in Nevada City, CA. We add the stuff on the roof, additional shelving, and all accessories.

Travel Advice

Your itinerary and campground bookings are up to you. I highly recommend using the apps Campendium, The Dyrt, AllTrails, and Recreation.gov to plan your trip.

I highly recommend downloading and using the “Campendium” app to check campgrounds… your preference of price and amenities is going to be up to you. You do not need electrical hookups, so you can book a tent spot at your campground without issue.

Much to my dismay, there’s no way I can predict the weather. You’ll have to check averages for that time of year at the places you’re planning on heading to and make an informed decision.

That totally depends on where you travel to and the rules/laws of where you go. You’ll need to research. I recommend Using the Campendium and recreation.gov apps to find campgrounds.

Please don’t. There are many public parks, Walmarts, and shopping centers nearby. Please head to them. You will unfortunately jeopardize our lease if you camp at the pickup / dropoff location.

You can check these resources for places to camp near and in Las Vegas:

BLM land is ok, but I don’t allow dirt road travel, so it kind of depends on your plans! Otherwise happy to send you on your adventure 🙂

Depends on how far you’re willing to drive! Death Valley, northern Nevada, southern Utah, and Arizona all have wide open deserts, so it kind of depends on your preference of other things to see and do and how far you are willing to go. Check our travel guides at https://vegascampers.com/guidebook/ for some great stargazing ideas! 🙂
